Casper College is seeking applicants for the position of Adjunct German Instructor for Spring 2020, with a possibility of continuing as needed. The successful applicant will be available to teach day and/or evening classes. This is a part-time teaching position.
Basic responsibilities of adjunct faculty are to review and distribute course syllabi to each class, follow standard course design designated by the dean or school, arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment necessary to meet course objectives, and basic reporting duties including grade reports, etc.
Teach beginner/novice level course(s) in German
Prepare syllabi and schedules for each course
Develop lesson plans
Procure appropriate materials needed for course instruction
Reporting duties including student grade data
Utilize active learning strategies to assist the learner in meeting the course objectives
Participate in all required meetings and events as requested by the department or administration
Typical work environment is a classroom, language lab and/or office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Work is usually performed during the normal workday, however, occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors travelling between campus buildings in various weather conditions.
Employee must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required.
Master’s degree in German; or a Master’s degree in closely related field (e.g., linguistics or second language acquisition) with eighteen (18) graduate hours in German.
Ability to speak German at an advanced or superior level
Experience teaching at the college level
